The Grom of the Seas Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs): - Q: Do I need a Passport?
A: You will need either a Passport or US Birth Certificate to attend this cruise.
-
Q: Do I need to be vaccinated against Covid-19 to cruise?
A: For this particular itinerary, guests no longer need to be vaccinated to sail. Non-vaccinated guests will have to submit a negative Covid test taken within 3 days of sailing.
-
Q: How big is our group/are we the whole ship?
A: We anticipate our group will top out around 105-115 jolly folks. The ship for our 2026 cruise has a capacity of around 4500. Where that may seem like we’re surrounded by “civilians”, that’s really not the case. We typically keep together pretty well and have never had any issues with people outside of our group. We typically get asked if we are a fraternity or rugby/football team reunion group LOL!
-
Q: What’s an average day like on the cruise/what do we do?
A: Each night prior to dinner, you’ll get a SUGGESTED schedule of group activities for the following day emailed to you (those without the internet package can receive their schedule via AirDrop etc). Nothing is mandatory and this schedule will just provide a basic idea of where the bulk of our group will be throughout the next day should you wish to join or duck out at any given time.
-
Q: What’s the deal with “Formal Night” and the dress code in general on the ship?
A: You’re on vacation – relax! Jeans, T-Shirts, and Polos are all the right amount of laid back. Please keep swimwear to the Pool Deck. Nice shorts are welcome in the dining room on non-formal nights. Note that tank tops are not allowed in the dining room. Additionally, the cruise will have two “Formal Nights” during our voyage, but don’t let the term fool, this is simply an evening to dress a bit better for dinner in the dining room than the other nights. Think nice jeans or khakis and a tucked in polo or button down.
-
Q: What’s the deal with gratuities/tipping on the ship?
A: On the ship you will be charged $18.50 per day per day per person ($21 for full suites) to your onboard account (linked to your credit card at check-in) that covers tips for all your housekeeping and dining staffs’ hard work. For bar staff, 18% gratuity is added onto either your drink package purchase or each individual drink you purchase, should you opt not to choose a beverage package. You are more than welcome to also tip additional “Rock Star” crew members in cash at your discretion.
-
Q: I feel like I might be too shy or intimated/not know anyone. How will I fit in?
A: EVENT PRO TIP: You are no more or less intimidated or intimating than anyone else in the group! We all get shy sometimes and that’s OK! We will have a cute dinner on Feb 7 as well as drinks, snacks, and icebreakers the night before the cruise at the pre-cruise hotel where we can get to chat, mingle, and meet!
-
Q: What about SEX (is this just one big hook-up festival)?
A: TL:DR – NO. WE ARE ALL ADULTS HERE. There is no one right way to address this question and YOU will make your own choices. The cruise is what you make of it. As with any event, SOME may engage in couplings and other extracurricular activities. Our group is truly diverse, and we all have a shared goal that everyone feels safe, comfortable, and included on their tremendous cruise vacation.

Real Testimonials:
-
"I was on both the 2019 and 2020 cruises and found the events to be well-organized with plenty of optional activities that allowed me plenty to do with the group or just take a nap"
-MattFromPittsburgh
-
"I attended the 2020 cruise and the organizer was very kind, professional, and accommodating! They (Sam) were so helpful and made sure I was always taken care of! Thanks GotS! PS: If you're looking for a good time, call (steak) Diane"
-Notorious_PIG
-
"Grom of the Seas 2020 had great food, great friends, and lots of sunshine. Getting to escape the cold Chicago winter and hang out with my fat besties truly made me smile and was the perfect way to end my 2020 (in February)"
-PiggySmallz
-
"Grom of the Seas 2019 was my first cruise in a long time and having Sam as our "cruise director" was amazing. I loved not having to plan or really think about anything as we had a group itinerary for each day that we could join in with or opt to do our own thing. I am really looking forward to 2022 and the unlimited peanut butter cookies."

EVENT CODE OF CONDUCT INFO
The following constitutes our Code of Conduct for The Grom of the Seas. All attendees must abide by this code and by booking this cruise event, you are agreeing to the below. Violations will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis and may result in a warning, or, in egregious or continuing cases, removal from the remainder of the event gatherings onboard, involvement of ship/local security/police, and banning from future cruises/events.
The Grom of the Seas Code of Conduct:
Respect personal space: Not everyone is going to be comfortable with touching (such as belly rubs), especially before you get to know them. Don’t assume someone is OK with being touched–ask first. If that person declines, you must respect that. Also be aware of your surroundings and respect "civilians" aka people on the ship or in the ports that are not in or familiar with the "quirks" of our group.
Respect privacy: If you share any stories from The Grom of the Seas (on a blog, on Grommr or even just talking with friends), you must respect the privacy of other attendees. Unwanted exposure of personal information (such as surnames) is prohibited. The Grom of the Seas is a private group event and reporters are not welcome.
Ask before taking photos: Not everyone is going to be comfortable having their photo/videos taken, let alone posted on Grommr etc. Always ask, before taking someone’s photo, if it’s OK to do so. And clarify up front if you intend on posting any of those photos on Grommr or elsewhere.
Drink responsibly: Attendees over the age of 21 are welcome to partake in alcohol during the cruise. We trust that all attendees will drink responsibly and maintain control over themselves at all times. Attendees who become rowdy or disruptive may be asked to go to their room until they sober up. Attendees 18-20 may not consume liquor onboard the ship per Royal Caribbean policies.
No room for racism or xenophobia: Ours will be a gathering of many different kinds of people of all walks of life. Attendees are expected to be respectful of differences. Hate speech of any kind is absolutely not allowed.
No minors allowed: The Grom of the Seas is restricted to participants who are aged 18 or over at the time of cruise booking. Royal Caribbean policy states at least ONE guest per room be 21+.
Attendees should also familiarize themselves with Royal Caribbean's Guest Conduct & Other Policies, found here... https://www.royalcaribbean.com/faq/topics/general-policies
