May The 4th Gaming Grom

May 4
12:00 PM - 4:00 PM
Nottingham
England

Calling all you nerdy gaming gainers, feeders and encouragers. To celebrate Star Wars day (May The Fourth Be With You!), we will be heading to the newest LGBTQIA spot in Nottingham, The Hockley Emporium, for a fun afternoon of gaming and gaining.

The venue has a full and affordable menu of plant based foods (which myself and others can confirm are really nice, even if you are used to meat). We will also have the mezzanine area to ourselves so we can eat and game undisturbed.

Not only that, the venue is fully aware and accepting of the gainer community and will be adding a special 3,000kcal (YES, 3,000kcals!!!) plant based Mexican themed Jabba The Gut burger to their menu just for our group, which also comes with fries (on top of the 3,000kcal). This huge monstrosity can be yours for £22. I've been promised that it will be ridiculously huge so well worth the price. The burger will need to be pre-ordered so that the venue can source and prepare the extra ingredients in advance. To do so please click on the link below and fill in the form so the venue can send you a payment link. Of course, you can also order from the standard menu if you wish, of which we have uploaded a picture in the event feed.

Address: Hockley Emporium, 39 Pelham St, Nottingham NG1 2EA (look for the place with the black frontage and big windows to the left of Wetherspoons)

Event Starts: 12:00

Food Served: 13:00ish

Event Finishes: 16:00ish (but we can stay longer if we want to)

Accessibility

As we are on the mezzanine floor, there will be some stairs. This flight of stairs is the same as you would find in a normal UK house, so this should give you an idea.

Unfortunately, access to the toilets is up a very long flight of stairs and those with mobility issues might struggle. There is a Wetherspoons next door which might have more accessible facilities.

Getting Here & Staying Here

Train - There are frequent services from London St Pancras with other direct services to and from cities such as Manchester, Birmingham and Leeds. There is a tram that runs from the station to Lace Market tram stop, which is right across the road from the Hockley Emporium. If using the tram, ensure that you buy a ticket or tap a payment card on the contactless terminals at the end of the platform before boarding.

Driving - If you are coming via the M1 and want to avoid driving into Nottingham at all, you can use the Phoenix Park Park and Ride that links with the city's tram network. None of the park and ride facilities are for overnight parking. Alternatively there are a selection of car parks such as The Lace Market Car Park, Victoria Centre Car Park and Trinity Square Car Park.

Hotels - Nottingham has a wide range of hotels to choose from for all budgets. If you are looking for cheap and cheerful but in a central location, the Ibis Lace Market is a good choice but beware of the small bathrooms. Alternatively there is a Premier Inn and Travelodge on Maid Marian Way. For those looking for something that bit nicer, the Lace Market Hotel on High Pavement is a lovely Georgian hotel for a comfy get away. There is also the Mercure Nottingham City Centre, which is in an enviable central location.
