South Florida GrommOff

Feb 22
7:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Dania Beach
Florida

Meet your local Grommr friends and several tons of out-of-towners coming in for the Grom of the Seas cruise! ( www.gromoftheseas.com )

While inclement weather, including expected temps in the high 60s (a bit below beach weather), we will forego the beach portion and proceed right to the MAIN EVENT! -- come out with us for dinner and drinks on Saturday, Feb. 22nd from 7-9 pm (local EST time) at Radiant 166 Restaurant in the Marriott-Fort Lauderdale Airport Hotel, 166 N Compass Way, Dania Beach, FL 33004. ***Free parking nearby as the venue is in a shopping district***

This will be a chill get-together without any tickets or contracts - just self-pay for whatever food and drink you consume from the menu.

To attend: RSVP here using the "Attending" button above if you know you can make it

Click the "Follow" button if you're unsure but want to keep up to speed with this event

*After* the GrommOff at the Marriott, look for attendees to start filtering in from dinner to the Eagle - Wilton Manors after 9:30. NOTE! The Grommoff is the dinner, as many of the cruisers from out of town will turn in after dinner for their early departure the next morning. The get-together at the Eagle is beyond the scope of the Grommoff and the organizers will not be in attendance, but have a great time!!

For responsible attendees who don't want to drive afterwards, the very limited number of remaining rooms on our discount block from Grom of the Seas have been snatched up ($289/night for rooms currently selling b/w $350 and $450), but if you're looking for accommodations, reach out to Titanicgains and he will see what magic he can still work with the hotel.

*GrommOffs are independently organized by members who've been vetted and approved as organizers, and who abide by a set of GrommOff Ground Rules which can be read in the Support link above. If you believe that these rules were not followed, please contact the GrommOff account here: https://grokio.atlassian.net/servicedesk/customer/portal/4/topic/3ab9d4b8-c5d9-4822-a936-64a17a41150f/article/181731339 *

Please note well the following rules for Grommoffs:

1. Respect others’ personal space

Gatherings can be exciting--and it can be easy to feel comfortable with people you’ve just met. But make sure you always ask before encroaching on someone’s personal space if you don’t know them and stop if someone asks you to stop. Don’t make assumptions and ask for consent and you’ll be fine.

2. No room for racism, misogyny, ableism, homophobia or transphobia

We hope this rule goes without saying, but there is absolutely no room for racist, misogynistic, homophobic or transphobic views at any Grokio Community Gathering. Period.

3. Respect the discretion of the group in public

Oftentimes, gatherings are held in public places (restaurants, parks, beaches, bowling alleys, etc.) and there will be other people nearby. Be aware that loud voices travel—if you’re talking about sensitive or potentially embarrassing topics, use your inside voice. Similarly, a public place is not appropriate for intimacy or sexualized touching. Even if the other person is comfortable with it, respect that you’re with a group in a public place and hold off until you have more privacy.

4. Illegal drug/alcohol use is not allowed

The use of drugs that are illegal in the local jurisdiction before or during a Grokio Community Gathering is strictly forbidden, as is the consumption of alcohol by those under the legal age in the local jurisdiction.

5. Guests from outside the community are only allowed with prior approval.

We know that attending a GrommOff, Feabie Meet or Ferzu Event for the first time can be scary, but bringing along a friend from outside the community for support can make others feel uncomfortable and force them to edit themselves the way they do in the real world. If you absolutely must bring a friend from outside the community and you are confident they will know how to behave appropriately, please clear it with the organizer BEFORE the event. Any portion of a gathering occurring in a bar or pub is excepted from this rule.
