Sunday 10am farewell brunch

Place: Saugatuck, MI

Hey y’all! It’s been a while since an event has been planned for this area. And where better than the Gay Capital of Michigan™️, Saugatuck!

There is so much to do around these parts: cute shops, distilleries, art galleries, Kilwins, gifts, international stores, a yacht club, a ferry… Think of it like a little Provincetown, but with a sprinkling of midwest “nice.”

**RSVP by June 24!** Google Form: https://forms.gle/2eJUsRCwsUYGFX669

I would also love to know how many to count on for Blue Star Cafe both days. RSVP at the link or shoot me a message either way!

Here’s the plan: (UPDATED 6/21)

SATURDAY

11am - Brunch at Blue Star Cafe (141 Blue Star Hwy, Douglas, MI 49406) — Just a short drive down Blue Star highway from Saugatuck proper. It’s cheap, it’s simple, and there is a crap ton of outdoor seating. (Indoor option available for our sun/heat sensitive folks)

🏖️ 1pm - OVAL BEACH Excursion! (690 Perryman Street, Saugatuck, MI 49453) Recognized as one of Condé Nast Traveler’s Top 25 Beaches in the World, National Geographic Traveler’s Top Freshwater Beaches in the USA, and MTV’s Top 5 Beaches in the USA. Oval beach is right nearby our brunch location. Bring your swimwear, beach towel, umbrella and a beverage (NO GLASS!) down with us. Handicap accessible, or just a few stairs for us eager fatties. The weather should be fabulous for us that day, and if not we have a backup plan: go back to Saugatuck and duck into some shops to avoid any raindrops. **COST $10 per vehicle for parking, we’ll carpool there and split it up.

4:30pm - Picnic dinner at Wicks Park (502 Water St, Saugatuck, MI 49453) — As we’ve taken the time to explore, you’ll notice Saugatuck has a million fabulous food options. Pick your favorite spot, order to-go, and join us on the lawn of Wicks Park for a little picnic before the show. Feel free to bring a blanket, chair, whatever makes you comfy. Some benches are available, though it will undoubtedly be a busy weekend in town.

**7:00pm - Saugatuck Center for the Arts Presents: KINKY BOOTS! (400 Culver St, Saugatuck, MI 49453) A little bit about the show from the SCA website: “Based on a true story, Kinky Boots brings joy, motivation, and a little bit of glamor to the SCA stage this summer. With music by Grammy Award-winning pop icon Cyndi Lauper, this “VA-VA-VOOM production” (New York Times) will inspire audiences to dance and sing along. Kinky Boots is a must-see musical that proves that sometimes the best way to fit in is to stand out!” ** Curtain is at 7:30, so we planned some time for us to get settled and grab a beverage of choice beforehand **

SUNDAY:

10am - Brunch at Blue Star Cafe. One more chance to grab some grub and a big belly hug from a new friend or two before we shove off.

TICKET INFO: You must RSVP by Saturday, Jun 24th to get a ticket with us in the same section. You are also welcome to purchase your own tickets, if you like. Please Venmo me @joshua-keller-18, or you can use Zelle; simply note which method of payment you used in the RSVP.

There is handicap accessible seating, however it is very limited. The sooner we know your needs, the better I can help serve you.

Things to remember: Sunscreen, sunglasses, swimwear, beach towel, beach umbrella, hats, light clothing, comfy shoes, camping chair, blanket, and a smile! (Oh, and a big appetite!)

Sincerely, friends, my hope is to help our region become more connected. I hope to see you there! It’ll be big, fat fun!
